The Scion Team Welcome Melinki

Welcome to the first blog from SCION, the exciting new fabric and wallpaper brand from the Harlequin group!

We thought that you might like to hear what the creative team responsible for SCION think about their exciting first collection – ‘Melinki’.

In their 20s, 30s and 40s, the SCION team have different tastes and styles in their homes, and chose different designs and colours as their favourites - proving that there really is something for everyone!

What is your favourite ‘Melinki’ design, and why?

Scion Blog - Carrots and Peas and Mr Fox

Carrots and Peas - it’s quirky and fun and has a wonderful fifties feel – perfect as a statement blind to introduce colour and pattern in to a kitchen” (Becky, Designer)

“I like them all, but Mr. Fox has to be my favourite... I simply love it!” (Emily, Marketing Executive)

Which colour way is your favourite?

“It has to be the ‘Emeralds & Limes’! I would love to move into the lounge that was photographed for that group!” (Claire, Weave Design Manager)

“The green group is my favourite – to me it reflects the brands confidence in colour in a fresh and exciting way” (Becky, Designer)

“This has to be the hardest choice for me! The 'Urban Zest' is really ‘on trend’, with a Mid-Century Modern influence, but it’s also incredibly versatile and usable in a contemporary home – I love the yellow tones against the charcoal greys!” (Deryn, Designer)

Which design/colour do you tip for the ‘Top Ten’?

“I think that the scale and originality of Woodland, plus the fact that it works well in a kitchen, lounge or bedroom setting makes it a likely candidate! The crisp white background keeps it looking fresh and fun” (Elaine, Creative Manager)

Lace, because of its versatility - it can be used in combination with so many of the other designs in the collection, yet has the power to make a real statement when the fabric and wallpaper are combined.  I confess to being a fan of all-over geometrics!” (Deryn, Designer)

Scion Melinki Lace Bathroom

“The clever mix of embroidery and print in Athyrium creates a wonderful three-dimensional feel – this design really brings the outdoors in! The choice of colourways makes it useable in any room” (Alison, Marketing Director)

Are there any colours or designs that have taken you by surprise? For example, do you like something that you wouldn’t normally choose?

Scion Melinki Rosehip 120098
Scion Melinki Berry Tree

“The emerald green Rosehip design – as soon as I saw it coloured in this way I wanted it! I already have it as a blind in my hallway. It’s not a shade of green that I’d really considered using in my home before, but now I love it! (Claire, Weave Design Manager)

“The Berry Tree wallpaper in the ‘Spiced Amber’ group looked fabulous with the teak sideboard where the warmth of the wood really brought out the amber tones of the berries” (Elaine, Creative Manager)

And finally if you could take home a prop from photography, what would it be?

Scion Melinki Lace, Strata and Dragonfly

“The retro chair upholstered in Lace – Gull & Lemon” (Emily, Marketing Executive)

“I love the way the blonde wood of Liam Treanor’s pieces work with the grey Lace wallpaper!” (Claire, Weave Design Manager)

“There are so many great props – I love the 60s cream and black Lurashell chair - the yellow Mac lamp is another favourite! (Elaine, Creative Manager)

If you’re looking for ideas and tips on how to achieve different looks within your home, then make sure you look out for the ‘Inspire’ section which is coming soon to our website.

Finally, we’d love to hear your favourites, and see some pictures of how you’ve used ‘Melinki’ fabrics and wallpapers in your home too – why not share them with us on Facebook and Twitter?

OMG, just come across Melinki One and Two - how superby refreshing and the answer to my prayers - new taupe kitchen needed an injection of vibrancy - I've fallen in love with Lunaria in plum, coral and linen! hugely disappointed though that I cannot get lace in plum or coral for my bar stools. Wishing you all much success, I shall definitely be spreading the word.

Fab collection of fabrics and wallpapers! I'm mixing it up a little with blue dragonfly wallpaper and the mistral fabric for my curtains.
